Where are Firefox bookmarks stored

Bookmarks are really helpful to keep shortcut to your favorite web pages. Firefox store these bookmarks in the local storage, but it is not a common directory where every user can reach easily. You need to know about some special steps to reach to that place where Firefox keep the bookmarks.

Find where Firefox bookmarks are stored

In this guide, we will guide you to reach to that directory where Firefox store bookmarks.

  1. Open Firefox browser.
  2. Click on Menu icon (three horizontal lines) located at the top right corner of the window.
  3. From the menu list, click on Troubleshooting Information
  4. A new window will open where you have to click on Open Folder button. It will open Profile folder.

Generally, the profile folder is hidden and exist in the same partition where your operating system is installed, that is most of the times C: drive in case of windows.

If you are unable to explore bookmarks in this way, you can follow the manual way to locate the Firefox bookmarks in your local storage.

  1. Open Run in windows by pressing Windows button (near Alt key) + R.
  2. Past the following command in the Run. %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\
  3. Click on Ok. A new window will open which is the profile directory of Firefox.

The profile folder of Mozilla Firefox contains Bookmarks, Downloads and Browsing History.

This file contains all the bookmarks, files which you have downloaded and the websites you have visited.

  • Bookmarkbackups

This file contains the backup of the bookmarks. So, that you may need to restore them anytime.

  • favicons.sqlite

This file contains the reference to the favicons of your bookmarks.
