The Brave Rewards program allows Brave browser users to earn Basic Attention Token while viewing privacy respecting ads. The ads currently come in two different forms, either as a notification in the bottom right when on the desktop, or in the notifications tray when on mobile. Examples are below;
One of the most common questions found on the Brave community forums and subreddits is whether you actually need to click and interact with the ad to actually get paid.
The great news is, you don’t have to click the ad to get paid. Confirmation of this can be seen on the Brave FAQ website.
Users are rewarded for viewing ad notifications as they appear in Brave. Users are not rewarded for clicking on ads.
This has also been confirmed on a number of occasions on the forums by community representatives.
Difference Between Viewed, Dismissed and Clicked.
When viewing your 7 Day Ad history in Brave Rewards, you might notice the words Viewed, Dismissed and Clicked next to the ads.
The difference is, Viewed simply means the ad notification was displayed on your desktop or mobile device. As we mention above, we don’t have to click it at all. Dismissed means you swiped away the notification, or on desktop, clicked “X” on the notification to remove it. Clicked means you actively clicked on the ad and was taken to the advertisers landing page.
Given that you don’t have to interact with the ads at all to get paid, and if you want to see even more, check out our guide on how to increase the amount of ads you see to help maximize your BAT earnings.
